beginners to mysore
It may seem daunting to start ashtanga yoga but complete beginners are always welcome at Ashtanga Yoga Galway. If you have never seen a mysore self practice class before, I invite you to come in and sit and observe the class. You can ask me any questions you have and decide if it is right for you.
The best way to learn ashtanga yoga is in the mysore class. You don't have to have any previous experience or be flexible or fit. With a willingness to learn, and some patience, I will introduce you to the basics of this practice. I work with each individual and safely show you the poses and how to adapt and modify if needs be.
You do not need to know the sequence before you start, as I will teach it to you pose by pose.
What to Expect at your first class
Mysore self practice will have students of mixed abilities practicing side by side.
At your first class, you will be taught how to breathe correctly, bandhas and some sun salutations. Normally the first class is 30 minutes long. It might not sound like a lot, but there is a lot of repitition and movement and this is generally enough for the first class.
To give yourself a chance to learn, I ask for a commitment of one month, with at least two to three mysore classes a week.
As a beginner in mysore there is a new student offer of unlimited classes for one month at a cost of €95.
As a beginner, I also run four week beginners courses, on an intermittent basis.
